Occupational Therapy Practice In The Port Elizabeth Area
What is occupational therapy?
- In a way OT enable and empowers children to participate in everyday activities, play as well as learning.
- They enhance their ability to do what they want to, need to or are expected to do or they modify the tasks or the environment to better support them to participate.
- Occupational therapists look at the child holistically and consider their strengths and weaknesses, the environment the child is in, the tasks they need to perform as well as aspects that may enhance or hinder their ability to perform optimally.
- Specific focus is placed on fine and gross motor development, visual perception, concentration, emotional control, the ability to cope with daily transitions (e.g. changes in routine) and sensory challenges.
